George Washington Ross

Born 1825, in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia

Died 2 August 1863 of wounds received at Gettysburg.

Enlisted 20 April 1861 at Macon, Bibb County, Georgia in Company C, 2nd Battalion, Georgia Infantry where he served as a Sergeant.  Elected and promoted to Capain on 17 May 1861.  On 10 May 1862he was promoted to Major and Commander of the 2nd Battalion, Georgia Infantry.  Major Ross was wounded in the shoulder at Gettysbury, Pennsylvania and captured while in the hospital there.

Buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Macon, Bibb County, Georgia.
